Welcome to second hand idea.

Have you ever heard of a saying that goes “Nobody knows how to make a pencil”?
Even though you know all the parts you need to make a pencil, you don’t know how those parts are produced in a factory, what kinds of machines were used to make those parts, and how the materials for those parts were sourced, and the machines produce those parts introduces more variables to this equation.
And that can applied to almost anything in modern society, from as complicated as smartphones that have hundreds of components to the water bottle you are drinking water from, even the things that we can’t touch like ideas.
Ideas don’t pop up out of nowhere, after we learn new things, our brains process those thoughts “in the background”, and when it’s not busy, ideas pop up.
So the “new ideas” are not quite “new”, they are a bunch of old ideas put together in a new way. And that’s where the name “second-hand idea” comes from, the ideas are all “second hand” in some way, and by me writing them down, and reading them in this podcast, it’s got even more “second hand”.

So what is this podcast about?

It’s about things or ideas that I learned or am interested in over the years, and write them down ( or put them together ) in my way so that maybe I can better under them and you, the listeners, can learn something new and by learning second handed ideas from me, you come up with “new” ideas.
By the way, this podcast has a website where you can read the scripts of this episode, and future episodes, head over to secondhandidea.com.
